What are your favorite family-friendly outings? Hopefully, this is the beginning of a successful endeavor for Cinemark and we start to see more of these family-friendly theaters pop up all over the country. And the best part? Camp Cinemark doesn’t cost any more than the cost of a regular ticket to this theater! The theater only shows family-friendly movies and rotates its selection every couple of weeks. Because everyone in the theater had kids with them, no one seemed to notice that my kids weren’t exactly star movie-goers. I didn’t get stressed out if my 4 year old was asking questions a bit loudly during the movie or if my 5 year old was a bit bouncy. And there are lights strung from the ceiling to enhance the “camp” part of Camp Cinemark.īecause this theater is designed for kids and families, I felt completely relaxed here. Large trees on the walls remain dimly lit throughout the movie so kids are never truly in the dark. Inside the theater, brightly-colored chairs and large bean bags invite kids to get comfy and find their spot to cozy up for the movie. My little artists really enjoyed these features. And if virtual play isn’t your child’s favorite, he or she can put crayon to paper at one of the adjacent mini tables stocked with crayons and paper. ![]() There is a wall-sized interactive screen where kids can color interactive pictures with the wave of a hand. Walk a bit further down and your kids will truly be in awe. There is a fun cave that says “Do Not Enter” that kids love climbing in and out of. The bathroom is right outside the theater door.īut the true fun begins at Camp Cinemark when you walk in. No more dragging three kiddos across the lobby when one has to potty. Secondly, Camp Cinemark has a family-friendly bathroom right outside the theater. It is only one theater inside an entire movie theater, and no adult is allowed in Camp Cinemark without a child. ![]() Would she talk during the show? Would she want to monkey around or would the seats be too stiff? What if she had to go to the bathroom and we had to traipse across the theater mid-show? Camp Cinemark seemed to hear my concerns and address them all in one magical theater experience.Ĭamp Cinemark designed the experience with families in mindįirst and foremost, Camp Cinemark has a strict policy on who can go into the theater. I remember when my oldest, now 8, was still little, and how much I fretted about taking her to the movies. Camp Cinemark is a family-friendly theater with amenities that will entertain your young ones before, during and after your movie!Ĭamp Cinemark gives parents peace of mind when it comes to movie-viewing. In 2017, Cinemark Theaters introduced a new concept for kid-friendly movies called Camp Cinemark at its Allen, Texas, location. Genius! (Harkins has locations in Arizona, California, Colorado and Oklahoma, too!) Harkins allows you to bring kiddos ages 3-8 to the movies with you! They can play in the lobby playcare centers for an additional fee while you enjoy a movie solo or with friends. Awesome, right? No more having to scramble to find a sitter or having to locate a drop-off playcare center close to home. Harkins Theaters, with a location in Southlake, Texas, offers an in-lobby play center for kids. They are making it tempting, and, dare I say it, easy, to bring young kids to the movie theater! Family-friendly movie theaters Now movie theaters in the Dallas/Fort Worth area enhancing your movie-going experience even further. Blown.Įven with the dinner and a movie concept daring me to make more time for date nights, I still wasn’t thrilled with bringing my young kids to the movies with me. I no longer had to plan dinner, then a movie. Wine during the opening credits? I don’t have to move! Cheese quesadillas or a burger an hour in? No problem! Yes, Studio Movie Grill literally changed the way I viewed movies. I could order an entire meal - a delicious one, at that! - while sitting and watching a movie. I remember when I first moved to Texas and was introduced to Studio Movie Grill. Well, movie theaters have come a long way since then. Remember when movie theaters were just places where you went to, well, see movies? You might see an arcade game or two in the lobby, but mostly you went to the theater for overpriced popcorn and some Friday night entertainment?

This calorie calculator has an easy to use, user-friendly interface that requires the user to fill in only three empty boxes for weight, hours worked, and the time period. Standing Hours using Calorie-Burn Calculator So, how many calories do you burn standing? To answer this question, you need a Calorie-Burn Calculator since the calories burned standing per hour varies from person to person depending on their weight. Standing burns more calories than sitting because the body uses more stabilizer muscles to keep your body upright. Burns 134 calories sitting and 206 calories standing per hour. According to the National Institutes of Health, a person weighing 170 lb. Sitting?Īpart from cardiovascular and musculoskeletal benefits, alternating a few hours from sitting to standing is a viable option to burn more calories in the hectic society of the 21st century. What is the Difference in Calories Burned Standing vs. This Calorie-Burn Calculator also analyzes your weight against the Metabolic Equivalent of Task range for the activity to determine the calories burned standing vs. If your job requires prolonged sitting, you can reduce weight-related health risks using Calorie-Burn Calculator to determine the most appropriate number of hours spent sitting vs. From office workers to students, drivers, and all other professions that require prolonged sitting, using this calorie burner calculator can help manage your weight and maintain physical and mental health.Īccording to a recent survey, 81% of office workers spend 4 to 9 hours per day seated and an average of 67 sedentary days per year. This calculator is highly suited for anyone who wishes to burn more calories by alternating between sitting and standing. When sitting, our Calorie-Burn Calculator uses a MET of 1.5 under the MET code 11580 and 2.0 for standing under the MET code 09071. The MET range for sitting is 1.3 to 1.8 and from 1.8 to 2.3 for standing. To help track and meet your recommended daily calorie-burn, we created an advanced Calorie-Burn Calculator. A Calorie-Burn Calculator is a software-driven toolkit that measures calories burned during an activity or combined activities using the Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET). ![]() Many of us would be surprised to know that the touch and tablet based interface was actually invented before the modern day mouse. Further developments saw the inclusion of a scroll dial, extra buttons and even gyroscopic capabilities in some models that detected hand waves. Also, most mouse model designs have used either a two button or a three button interface, with the exception of Apple that had stayed with a simplified one button interface through and through. Optical mouses were made affordable by using a rubber tracking ball that worked in a way similar to the original trackball technology. It was many years later that the mouse was used famously with the Xerox Alto at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Centre. In 1979, it was this very same PARC lab that was (now famously) toured by Steve Jobs, and is said to have been the source of inspiration for the mouse-driven interface that Apple eventually developed for the highly succesful Macintosh computers released in the 1970s.(and as some would say, the Microsoft Windows interface as well) Each contact conveyed a certain movement to the digital computer which used that to plot the position of the pointer on the display. Whenever the ball was rolled, the movement of the connected discs created signals at contacts with wires in the device. This entire idea had evolved from earlier developments of a trackball, which involved multiple rolling discs with a rolling ball. They actually named it the mouse due to the cord extending out of the back portion of the device, which looked similar to a tail. Douglas Engelbart and his lead engineer Bill English made their first working mouse prototype in the 1960s in their lab at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI). ![]() The technical innovation behind a computer mouse was already in place even 50 years ago. Case in point - the scroll lock Have you seen anyone actually using their keyboard to scroll anymore? Another example is the System Request (SysRq) key, from mainframe days. In spite of all these, the alternatives didn’t really catch on.Īctually, there are vestiges of the keyboard’s usage as a pre-mouse era input device that are still evident on most present day keyboards. In fact, there are a number of features about the current layout that are obvious shortcomings, like the single handed typing of many common words (was, were), left handed dominance, letters frequently used together not placed close etc. The initial design was inherited from typewriters as the QWERTY layout, which was never really changed although alternatives, like Dvorak layout, claim better speed and lower fatigue. Re-programming or re-typing involved removing and rearranging cards or sometimes inserting entirely new ones into the sequence.ĭerived mainly from the teleprinters and key punches of the yesteryears, keyboards made inputting information a very simple task of re-keying the statement compared to the complete removal and reinsertion of cards in the punchcard system. Since the census had 80 Questions, the key punch cards had 80 columns - a number that carried his legacy in the form of 80 column computer screens for decades as well as the company he created, which later became part of IBM.Ī step further, multiple punches could represent letters and numbers, which were also written on top of each column so that the cards could be read normally by eye. Around 1890, Herman Hollerith developed the first key punch device to tabulate the results of the 1890 Census in the USA. Although there were other earlier ways to input information into a computing device like switches and dials, the keypunch and the punch-card methods were the first to have widespread usage for entering, storing and retrieving data. Key punches were around since as early as the 1800s in the form of Jacquard loom cards. From punchcards to motion detection, let us see how we arrived here. ![]() With the ease of gliding our hands on our touchscreens or directly talking to our devices, it is very easy to forget the evolution of input devices in the last century since computing devices were introduced. But computers weren’t invented with input devices in mind, atleast not the ones we use now. In fact, many of us would probably recall the peripheral first and the rodent later, upon hearing the word “mouse” - a quick google search will reveal how true this is. When asked to picture a computer, here is possibly nobody who will do so without including the ubiquitous keyboard and mouse. ![]() As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Throughout the Bible, we are commanded to love others-without being told to “love ourselves first.” For example:Ī new command I give you: Love one another. He would have said “on these three commandments” if that was what he meant. Jesus was (and is) a superb communicator. ![]() Notice that Jesus said, “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:40). He didn’t say “on these three commandments.” We are saying that loving ourselves is a precondition to loving other people. If we say we can’t love others until we love ourselves, we are essentially saying Jesus gave us a third commandment. In fact, without realizing it, we are suggesting that to love yourself is the second greatest commandment, for we are saying it comes before the commandment to love others. In this passage, Jesus said there are two great commandments, one of which is to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:34-40). And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:34-40) One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. The phrase “love your neighbor as yourself” comes from Jesus’ answer to the question, “Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” (Matthew 22:36). But first let’s look a little deeper at the idea of “loving yourself.” Did Jesus make loving yourself a third commandment? You will read more about enjoying God’s love later in this study. It is to fully grasp and enjoy God’s love for you. The alternative to loving yourself is not hating yourself. ![]() If we aren’t called to love ourselves, does that mean we should hate ourselves? No. God doesn’t want you to go through life saying, “I hate myself.” As you will see, that’s not what Jesus was saying. In fact, some people think Jesus said you must love yourself before you can love others. They support this idea by pointing to Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). They think “as yourself” means you cannot love others unless you first love yourself. Many people think the “cure” to a poor self-image is to learn to love yourself. Introduction: Multitudes of people, Christians included, go through life feeling discouraged, depressed, and unlovable. Understandably, they desperately want to escape a negative self-image. What Did We Say before Texting and Social Media?īefore the digital era, we would have just said "I Hate You" or something like "I Really Don't Like You" instead of using 182.“Loving yourself first” (before you can love others) It is not often used as another part of speech within a wider sentence. "I Hate You" is typically used as a standalone declarative sentence. Nevertheless, cyber terms are still regularly used to make messages more entertaining or to express individuality.Ĭyber terms differ from emoticons because they are not pictorial representations. ![]() Word, but since the arrival of predictive texting and keyboards on mobile devices, this efficiency is no longer required. Although the salary is not lucrative, you are still being paid to build flight time rather than having to pay for it yourself. ![]() One of the best ways to crystalize your own skills and push yourself to the next level at the same time is to start teaching. As a certified flight instructor (CFI), you will naturally close any gaps in your own learning and become an expert on the fundamentals of flight. This strong base will serve you as you continue to advance your career.Īs you know from having gone through plenty of pilot training yourself, the role of a CFI is to guide student pilots through both the academic principles of flight during ground school and the hands-on reality in the air. Like other teachers, flight instructors dedicate additional time outside of lessons for planning curriculum and preparing lesson plans. If you are interested in becoming a certified flight instructor, you will need to earn your CFI certificate. ![]() Prepare for a longer and more challenging check ride than you have previously experienced. During this check ride, not only will you need to demonstrate your own piloting skills, but you must also show that you have what it takes to reliably transfer those skills to your students and to serve as their safety net while in the air. Some CFIs really love their job and make a career out of it. Others use the experience as a steppingstone to different piloting jobs. Either way, becoming a CFI is a low time pilot job that rewards you in terms of building your skills and capabilities. We have all seen the planes flying over sporting events, festivals, and beaches towing the promotional banners. Banner towing pilots spend their days flying back and forth slow and low over designated areas so that people below can see the banner. It may not be an incredibly glamorous job but working as a banner towing pilot can certainly pay the bills and help you build flight time. You could even get to tow an engagement proposal, birthday, or other special banner. One of the most fun and exciting parts of being a banner towing pilot is the low flyby of the airfield to pick up the banner. Pilots must be very precise to hook the banner without getting too close to the ground. Watch The Flying Reporter’s How pilots tow banners feature to see this maneuver in action. To work as a banner towing pilot, you will need your banner towing endorsement. This is where you gain the towing-specific skills required to be a safe banner towing pilot. ![]() Aerial Surveying/MappingĪerial surveying or mapping uses both fixed and rotary wing aircraft to collect various geographical information about a designated region from the air. Depending on the nature of the survey and the equipment management needs, the pilot may be flying solo or with an experienced systems and sensor management engineer on board. If you do not have an engineer on board, part of your job as an aerial surveyor will be to operate the imaging and other equipment yourself, so computer and technical skillsets can be useful. Multiple pieces of hardware are typically used to conduct a survey, and they must be mounted or properly positioned in/on the aircraft.
